Sarah’s creative practice is multi-disciplinary – but centres on textiles, and stitch. Memories are the starting point for her artwork; often a sense of place. She prefers to work in series, taking the time to immerse herself in a particular landscape.
Having trained in embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University, she enjoys subverting notions of this ‘domestic’ craft by repurposing fabrics into abstract, often colourful, artworks.
Whilst her process begins with traditional sketches and photographs, she finds a freedom inherent in the physicality of dyeing, ripping, layering and stitching fabric.
Current work explores themes of time and place through abstracted landscapes.
